Is it obligatory to make up prayers that were missed over many years due to sleeping through Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers?

Prayer is the second pillar of Islam and the first of a Muslim's deeds to be examined. Neglecting it leads to severe warnings, as stated in the Almighty’s words: (There succeeded them later generations who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil) and (So woe to those who pray, [but] who are heedless of their prayer). Whoever denies the obligation of prayer is considered a disbeliever by scholarly consensus. One who has abandoned prayer must repent and make up for the missed prayers. If the number is unknown, they should continue making up prayers until they are reasonably certain their duty has been fulfilled. This is the preponderant view of the majority of scholars.
