What does the absence of being subjected to trials indicate?

A Muslim should seek well-being (al-afiyah) and strive to thank Allah for it, as well-being can be a trial for a servant: will he be grateful or ungrateful? A servant fluctuates between blessings that demand gratitude and tribulations that necessitate patience. Patience is restraining the soul from discontent, the tongue from complaint, and the limbs from disobedience. So, whoever fulfills Allah's servitude in prosperity and adversity is upon great goodness.
