Is refraining from masturbation considered repentance for which one is rewarded, and is it a condition for remorse to shed tears or verbally express abstinence from the sin, or is merely abandoning it sufficient?

Previously, it was stated that the conditions for an accepted repentance do not include verbalizing the resolve not to return [to sin] or shedding tears. Rather, the conditions are a heartfelt resolve and inner remorse. Al-Ghazali mentioned that repentance is abandoning sins immediately, resolving to abandon them in the future, and rectifying past shortcomings, along with remorse and sorrow for what has passed, which is the spirit of repentance. Merely ceasing a sin is not considered true repentance unless its conditions are met. Simply stopping a sin is not sufficient to expiate previous transgressions, unlike repentance, which demolishes prior evil deeds. Therefore, mere abandonment does not suffice for sincere repentance.
