Is a girl who threw herself from a flat window to escape rape and died considered a suicide and a sinner, or will she be rewarded for her action? And what is the ruling on the young men who abducted her and caused her death, and should they be killed in retribution?

If a woman throws herself from a window and is not certain of death, her act is not considered suicide. However, if she knows she will die, she is not permitted to do so. Getting rid of indecency is not a justification for self-killing, and a woman is not allowed to kill herself even if she fears rape. She is excused if what she feared occurs against her will. It is not permissible for a woman forced into zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) to kill herself to escape shame.

As for the young men, their matter is for the Sharia (definition) court to examine their situation and the circumstances of the incident, and to impose the appropriate punishment on them. Crimes of kidnapping and robbery to violate the sanctity of Muslims by way of arrogance and open defiance are forms of hirabah (unlawful warfare against society), warranting the punishment mentioned in the verse of Al-Ma'idah.
