What is the ruling on wiping over shoes during ablution if the sock inside them is torn? And is consideration given to the shoe, or the sock, or both together?

If the sock is torn in a way that it does not cover the obligatory part, then it is as if it doesn't exist. In this case, only the sandals are considered, and it is permissible to wipe over them if they cover the obligatory part. Some scholars, however, preferred the permissibility of wiping over a torn sock if it can still be called a sock. In this case, the tears do not affect the validity of wiping, and both the sock and the sandal are considered together.
