The animals subject to are livestock (camels, cattle, and sheep) if they reach the [Zakat] threshold () and are pasturing. As for other animals, Zakat is not obligatory on them unless they are for trade. The proof for this is the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "There is no (Zakat) due from a Muslim on his slave or his horse." If these animals are for personal use and not for sale, then there is no Zakat due on them.
