Is a person considered spiteful if people describe him as such, bearing in mind that people are God's witnesses on His earth? And what is the difference between wara' (scrupulousness) and taqwa (piety)? And what is the ruling on bleaching eyebrows from the top and bottom?

The heart must be purified from malice, rancor, and envy. It is known that God's witnesses on earth are His pious awliya' (saints/friends). Thus, whoever they praise as good is among the good, and whoever they condemn as evil is among the evil.

As for the definition of wara' (scrupulousness/piety) and taqwa (God-consciousness/piety): Wara' is abstaining from what one fears will harm them in the Hereafter, and taqwa is doing what has been commanded and abstaining from what has been forbidden.

The difference between them: Taqwa is taking precautions, while wara' is warding off a doubt. Taqwa is based on a certain cause, while wara' is based on a suspected cause. Taqwa is a form of caution, while wara' is a reluctance to indulge in anything whose outcome is uncertain.

As for lightening the eyebrows, it is permissible as long as it is not for deceiving a suitor, because it is a dye that does not last and does not alter God's creation.
