What is the authenticity of the narration stating that the verse: "Men are in charge of women" was revealed after God prevented a woman from retaliating against her husband who slapped her, and what is the wisdom behind that?

The majority of jurists hold that there is no qisas (retribution in kind) for a slap or similar actions where exact equivalence cannot be achieved. They also state that if a husband assaults his wife by striking her, the judge should punish the husband. The absence of qisas between a man and his wife is not because he is male and she is female, but rather due to his status and the magnitude of his right over her. Ibn Hazm, however, believes that if a man strikes his wife without cause, she has the right to qisas from him.
