Is it obligatory to inform a non-Muslim buyer of a defect in the merchandise during a sale?

Whoever sells something that has a defect must disclose that defect, whether to a Muslim or a disbeliever; otherwise, he would be a deceitful sinner. It has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that "The two parties to a transaction have the option [to annul it] as long as they have not separated. If they are truthful and disclose, their transaction will be blessed. But if they lie and conceal, the blessing of their transaction will be removed." Concealing a defect is forbidden deception, and the obligation to disclose applies to sales made to both Muslims and disbelievers.
