Is a wife obligated to obey her husband if he orders her to sever ties of kinship, and is that considered a valid reason to seek divorce?

Allah has issued a severe warning against cutting off family ties. A husband must assist his wife in maintaining her family connections and should not prevent her unless there is a demonstrable harm resulting from it. The wife must obey her husband and not go out to maintain her family ties except with his permission. She is not permitted to seek a divorce without a valid reason, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Any woman who asks her husband for a divorce without any harm (justifying it), the fragrance of Paradise will be forbidden to her."
