What is the ruling regarding a man who looked at a woman during Ramadan? Is his fast valid or not?
If a fasting person looks at a woman during Ramadan and repeats the gaze, there are three scenarios: 1. No seminal fluid (maniy) discharged: His fast is valid. 2. Seminal fluid (maniy) discharged: His fast is invalid according to Ahmad and Malik, but valid according to the Shafi'is. 3. Pre-seminal fluid (madhiy) discharged: His fast is valid.
However, if he looks once and then averts his gaze, his fast is valid, whether or not any discharge occurs; because the first glance is excused. It is obligatory upon the believer to always lower his gaze, as Allah Almighty says: (Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision).
