Is it permissible to donate one's body for medical research after death, and what are the conditions for doing so?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to donate their body for medical research after death, because the sanctity of a Muslim's body is preserved, and it is not permissible to violate it through dissection except for a valid legal reason. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Breaking the bone of a dead person is like breaking it when they are alive." Furthermore, the duties after death are washing the deceased, shrouding them, praying over them, and burying them, and donating the body abrogates these duties. In addition, making a Muslim's body subject to dissection contradicts their honoring. The need for scientific research can be met by dissecting the bodies of those who are not infallible (disbelievers and apostates), which is what the Council of Senior Scholars has decided.
