Is the ignorant person excused for major Shirk by dropping the ruling but not the label before the establishment of proof?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If a Muslim commits an act of disbelief (kufr) out of ignorance of its prohibition, he is excused due to his ignorance, and the label of Islam does not cease to apply to him in this world or the Hereafter, provided that the act of disbelief he committed is one for which ignorance is an excuse. He is not ruled to be a disbeliever until after the establishment of the proof (Hujjah).
