How do we reconcile the criticism of Hafs ibn Sulayman by the people of Hadith regarding his narrations, with his reliance in the recitation of the Qur’an that we recite?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Hafs ibn Sulayman was proficient and firm in recitation, and Al-Shatibi and others praised him for his mastery of transmitting the Qur'an from Asim. He is not harmed by theafi's (Hadith scholars') weakening of him in Hadith, because his specialization was in the Qur'an and he mastered it. As for Hadith, it was not his field.
