What is the ruling on opening a mixed educational institute for male and female university students, knowing that the owner of the institute receives them himself and is unmarried?

The mixing of men and women, especially at a young age, is a cause of corruption and an instigator of evil. Assisting in it is assisting in sin and transgression. Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have not left behind me any trial more harmful to men than women." He also commanded separation between men and women, and that women should keep to the sides of the road. Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade women from walking in the men's path. Enabling mixing is the root of all evil and calamity, a cause of indecencies, the descent of general punishments, and the corruption of affairs. Therefore, it is not permissible to establish an institute that relies on this mode of study. The obligation is for each gender to study separately from the other, in preservation of religion and morals.
