The question

Does divorce take place by saying to one's wife, "That's enough, leave," given the several possible intentions behind this statement, especially if it was said before the issuance of a fatwa that divorce had occurred based on the questioner's expectation?

The answer

The statement "Ruhi Khalas" (Go, you are free/divorced) is not an explicit pronouncement of divorce. Therefore, divorce does not occur by it unless there is an intention [to divorce]. If you were not firm in the intention of divorce, then divorce does not occur. Doubt about the intention of divorce is not given consideration because the default is the continuation of the marriage. It is advised to disregard obsessive thoughts (waswas) and not pay attention to them.
