Is it permissible to imagine Allah as light when supplicating to Him or when imagining standing before Him, and is this considered among the forbidden acts?

Light (An-Nur) is a Name and Attribute of Allah the Almighty. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, described Him as such, and among his sayings is: "His veil is Light." And Allah the Almighty said: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth."

However, this divine light does not resemble the light of creation; rather, it is a light befitting His greatness and majesty, and none knows its nature but He, the Exalted. Therefore, no human can truly conceive of His light, the Exalted, and anything that comes to mind concerning Him is flawed.

If such imagination overtakes a person, they are not held accountable for it as long as they do not act upon it or speak of it. However, one should seek refuge with Allah from Satan and strive against the self to dispel such imaginations.
