Is it permissible to falsify events for Islamic personalities for the sake of dramatic plot in an artistic work?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible to convey the actual reactions of Muslim heroes in animated stories, such as depicting their standing, sitting, and greeting, provided that this does not diminish their status or attribute to them words they did not utter. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen issued a fatwa permitting Islamic animated cartoons if nothing is attributed to their leaders that they did not say and if they are free from evil. However, it is absolutely impermissible to depict prophets or companions.
