What is the position of religion, the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of His Messenger, the innate nature of the servant, and the customs of life and society concerning people's external appearance in dress and hair, and is it obligatory for a person to adopt this in their form and appearance, taking into consideration the Hadith: "Indeed, Allah does not look at your bodies or your forms, but He looks at your hearts," and His Almighty saying: "And when you see them, their physiques please you, and if they speak, you listen to their words. They are as if they were propped-up timbers"?
Judging people is based on their inner garment (the garment of piety), not on their outer garment which covers private parts and protects the body. The garment of piety is better than the outer garment, for it is the beauty of the heart and soul, and its benefit is continuous and never wears out. Its loss brings disgrace and scandal. As for the outer garment, its loss does no harm as long as the garment of piety remains, for Allah does not look at bodies and forms, but at hearts and deeds, and what matters is the heart.
