Is the interpretation that the creation of the heavens and the earth in six days refers to six phases correct, given its inconsistency with modern science?

1. The first opinion: That they were six days like ordinary worldly days, which they inferred from the apparent meaning of the Quranic texts. 2. The second opinion: That the duration of each day was like a thousand years of worldly days, which is the view of a number of the Salaf, and they supported it with some narrations. 3. The third opinion: That "day" here means absolute time or an unspecified approximate time period.

The diversity of these opinions indicates that the matter is open to different interpretations, and there is no definitive conclusion, which necessitates reconciling religious texts with cosmic knowledge and refraining from claiming contradiction.
