Does a divorce legally take effect if a written divorce application is submitted in the wife's name in Pakistan, at her request, to remove her husband's name from her passport for documentation purposes, given that there is no intention of divorce between the spouses?

It appears that the family wants to change their official documents in order to reside in a non-Muslim country, which is forbidden for several reasons:

1. It leads to an unlawful residency in non-Muslim countries.

2. It is considered a lie, fraud, and contrary to the truth.

3. It is a form of manipulation of divorce, and Allah the Almighty has forbidden taking His verses lightly, as in the context of the verses of divorce: (And when you divorce women and they have fulfilled their term, then either retain them in kindness or release them in kindness. And do not retain them to their detriment, so that you transgress. And whoever does that has certainly wronged himself. And do not take the verses of Allah in jest. And remember the favor of Allah upon you and what He sent down to you of the Book and wisdom by which He instructs you. And fear Allah and know that Allah is Knowing of all things.) Al-Baqarah/ 231.
