The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, named Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow) with this name, as stated in the : "Whoever recites the two verses from the end of Surat Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him." Al-Suyuti mentioned in Al-Itqan that Arabs name things after what is most famous about them. Surat Al-Baqarah was named with this name because of the story of the cow mentioned therein and the wondrous divine decree contained within it.
