Is the wife considered divorced if she went out in a manner explicitly forbidden by her husband, knowing that she went out in another manner that pleased him on the same night, then returned to him for marital relations two days later without his knowledge of her initial departure, and what should she do about that?

What happened is that the husband made the divorce of his wife conditional upon her leaving in a specific manner that he dislikes. If she does so, divorce occurs according to the majority of scholars, whether the husband knows or not, and whether he intended it or not. Her feeling of not returning does not prevent the occurrence of divorce. If the husband has intercourse with her during her iddah (waiting period), it is considered a valid return according to some scholars.

It is important to note: Firstly: It is not permissible for the wife to go out without her husband's permission and without a legitimate Shar'i reason. Otherwise, she is considered disobedient (nashiz) and her maintenance (nafaqa) falls, but the maintenance of the children does not fall. Secondly: The husband's statement "You are divorced" is an explicit statement by which divorce occurs. Thirdly: There is no harm in wearing trousers and a shirt and going out in them if there is a covering abaya over them, and there is no imitation of men or disbelieving women. Fourthly: It is permissible to wear a niqab that shows the eyes. The wife must obey her husband's command to cover her eyes or wear trousers if no harm results.
