To what extent is the hadith authentic: "Towards the end of time, there will appear a people, young in age, foolish in their dreams, who will speak with the best of human speech, kill the people of Islam while sparing the idolaters, have thick beards, shorten their garments, shave their heads, excel in speech but falter in action; they invite to the Book of Allah, yet they have nothing to do with it"?

The aforementioned Hadith with this specific wording has not been found, and it appears to be fabricated from authentic phrases and others not present in the texts, especially the phrase "مقصرين الثياب" (shortening their garments) which is not found in any reference. However, authentic Ahadith have been narrated in Bukhari, Muslim, and other collections about a people who recite the Qur’an but it does not go beyond their throats. They will abandon Islam as an arrow pierces its target, killing Muslims and leaving idolaters. Their distinguishing mark will be shaving their heads, and they are the worst of creation. Scholars have mentioned that these people are the Khawarij and those who follow their path, or anyone who rebels against the imams of guidance and the Muslim community.
