Does Surah An-Nisa, Ayah 15: "And those who commit unlawful sexual intercourse of your women – establish evidence against them with four [witnesses] from among you. Then if they give testimony, confine them to houses until death takes them or Allah ordains for them [another] way," speak of a ruling different from stoning, and when is each of them implemented?

The verse, "And as for those of your women who commit illegal sexual intercourse, let four [male] witnesses among you testify against them. And if they testify, confine them to houses until death takes them or Allah ordains for them another way," refers to fornication committed by Muslim women. Four Muslim men are to bear witness against them, and if this is proven, they are to be confined indefinitely in their homes until death, or until Allah ordains another ruling for them. This verse was abrogated by Surah (definition) An-Nur, "The fornicating woman and the fornicating man, lash each one of them with one hundred lashes," and by the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him, "Take from me, take from me. Allah has indeed ordained a way for them. For the unmarried male and unmarried female, it is one hundred lashes and expatriation for one year. And for the married male and married female, it is one hundred lashes and stoning."
