Does a divorce occur if a husband says, "You are divorced, you are divorced, you are divorced," as a general discussion about divorce, and not intending to initiate a divorce, given that they have three children, and what are the implications of that?

To effect a divorce, the declaration of divorce must be explicitly attributed to the wife with a clear phrase such as "You are divorced," or with an ambiguous phrase (kinayah) accompanied by the intention of divorce. If the declaration is not attributed to the wife, the divorce does not occur.

So, if the husband utters "divorced three times" and does not intend to attribute the divorce to his wife, especially if the conversation does not concern her, then the divorce does not take place, and the wife remains under his marital bond. It is advised to avoid anxiety and stress and to seek refuge in Allah from Satan.
