What is the wisdom behind Allah's tormenting of humans in the Hereafter, and what is its purpose, given that humans cannot endure the torment of Hellfire, and Allah is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy?

Allah the Almighty is a Just Ruler. The effects of His Names and Attributes are manifested in His creation. This includes recompensing people on the Day of Resurrection with justice, wisdom, and retribution. Therefore, those who do wrong and those who do good are not equal. Allah the Almighty said: "Or do those who commit evil deeds think that We will make them like those who believe and do righteous deeds—that their lives and their deaths will be equal? Evil is that which they judge. And Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth and so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged." And no one has an excuse after Allah's proof has been established by sending messengers and revealing books. Allah the Almighty said: "And [for] every person We have imposed his fate upon his neck, and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will find spread open. [It will be said], 'Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as an accountant.' Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We had sent a messenger." Thus, there is no injustice in the Hereafter; rather, it is a recompense for one's deeds.
