How is the enmity towards evildoers like their evil deeds, and how is the torment of Hellfire doubled in a way that no one in the world has ever seen?
The reckoning of good and evil deeds is a divine matter. Allah multiplies the reward for acts of obedience out of His grace, and He recompenses for an evil deed with its like out of His justice. So, whoever performs a good deed receives manifold rewards, and whoever commits an evil deed receives but one evil deed. If his good deeds outweigh his bad deeds, he is honored by Allah through His grace. But if his evil deeds outweigh his good deeds, he deserves the punishment that Allah has prepared for the disobedient, and the punishment will be to the degree that Allah wills. Allah Almighty says: "You are only recompensed for what you used to do" (36:54), and "So today no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do" (36:54), and "Are you recompensed for anything but what you used to do?" (27:90). Matters of the Afterlife cannot be measured by worldly standards except for approximation.
