The answer

It is established in the two Sahihs that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah says, "O Adam," and he replies, "At Your service and pleasure, and all good is in Your hands." He says, "Bring forth the delegation of the Fire." He said, "What is the delegation of the Fire?" He said, "From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine." That is when the young will turn gray. This distressed the Companions, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Rejoice, for from Gog and Magog will be a thousand, and from you, one man. And I hope that you will be a third of the people of Paradise, and half of the people of Paradise. Your likeness among the nations is like a white hair on the skin of a black bull, or like a mark on the arm of a donkey.” Al-Mubarakfuri has explained the and mentioned sayings in reconciling it with other hadiths, such as interpreting the hadith of Abu Saeed as applying to all of Adam's descendants, and the hadith of Abu Huraira as applying to those other than Gog and Magog, or that the division occurs twice: once from all nations, and once from this nation only, or that what is meant by the delegation of the Fire is the disbelievers and those who enter it from the sinners.
