What is the appropriate age for a sheep to be slaughtered for charity, and how is its meat distributed?

Slaughtering for the sake of Allah the Almighty when illnesses and calamities befall, for the purpose of charity and performing good deeds, is a means by which one can ward off evil fates. However, if it is coupled with a corrupt belief—such as believing that shedding blood repels the evil eye—then it is among the reprehensible acts. A mere intention to give charity or slaughter for the sake of Allah the Almighty does not necessitate it, as a vow is not binding by intention alone. Therefore, the questioner is not obligated to slaughter as long as the matter is confined to his intention. If he does slaughter, he is not bound by a specific age for the sheep nor a particular method for distributing its meat.
