The answer

The whisperings of Satan may prevent people from enjoining good and forbidding evil by making them imagine that it is showing off (riya'). One should not pay attention to such whisperings. Rather, one must advise sisters and brothers upon seeing a dereliction of duty or the commission of a forbidden act, with sincere intention for Allah and truthful purpose. It is not permissible to abandon what Allah has enjoined of da'wah (inviting to Islam), enjoining good, and forbidding evil for fear of showing off. Both men and women are equal in this duty, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise" (At-Tawbah: 71).
