The question

Does the noble verse, "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which produces seven ears," include ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) such as building roads and mosques and disseminating knowledge, and does "multiplication" mean the multiplication of the money spent in the way of Allah?

The answer

Continuous charity (Ṣadaqah Jāriyah) has immense rewards, and its recompense, like other good deeds, is multiplied up to seven hundredfold or more. This is based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Every deed of the son of Adam is multiplied: a good deed receives ten times its like, up to seven hundredfold," and Allah's Almighty saying: "{And Allah multiplies for whom He wills}" (Qur’an 2:261).
