Is it permissible for girls to watch reality programs broadcast by conservative channels, and what are the regulations for watching them if they are permissible, especially given that their broadcast duration exceeds ten continuous hours?

Reality shows, which involve gathering individuals in a specific place, recording their natural lives and reactions, and broadcasting them live, have varying rulings based on their content. If they are beneficial, such as scientific and religious competitions, Quran memorization contests, scientific discussions, and leadership training programs, then there is no harm in watching them.

However, if they broadcast trivial conversations and random talks, without careful selection or focus on what is beneficial, merely to entertain the viewer, then one must turn away from them, as Allah Almighty says: (Certainly will the believers prosper. They who in their prayers are humbly submissive. And they who turn away from ill speech) [Al-Mu’minoon/1-3].

Permissible does not mean indulging in their continuous متابعة (following). A true person is one who safeguards their time, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Among the excellence of one's Islam is his leaving alone what does not concern him." The reality is that these programs may be fictional or virtual, feeding the diseases of the heart with curiosity and envy. They increase the evils of forbidden attachment and the unrestricted gaze, especially for women, and lead to laziness and idleness from achievement.
