What is the method for washing the deceased?

The ritual washing (ghusl) of the deceased begins with istinja' (cleaning the private parts) and removing impurities while covering the 'awrah (private parts). Then, the deceased is given a ritual ablution (wudu'). After that, water mixed with lotus leaves (sidr) is poured over the head, then the right side, then the left, then the entire body is doused with water. The last wash should be with water and camphor. It is preferable for the washing to be three, five, or seven times if needed. If washed once or twice, it is sufficient.
