ما الدليل الصريح على عصمة الأنبياء والرسل؟

The prophets are infallible in conveying the message and in committing major sins after their prophethood. However, they may commit minor sins or an error of judgment that is not condoned, whereupon divine admonition for repentance reaches them. The Ummah has unanimously agreed upon their infallibility from error in conveying the message and from committing major sins. Quranic verses indicate their infallibility in conveying the message, such as the Almighty's saying: "O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord; and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message." (5:67) And His saying: "And if he had forged against Us some [false] sayings, We would have seized him by the right hand; Then We would have cut from him the aorta." (69:44-46) As for the rational proof, it lies in the impossibility of a Messenger erring in conveying the message, because that would either mean revelation remaining silent without correction, which contradicts Allah's perfection, or revelation correcting it, which would lead to people losing trust in the prophets' message and diminish their role as role models.
