What is meant by the Hadith: "A woman advances in the image of a devil and retreats in the image of a devil. So, if one of you sees a woman, he should go to his family, for that will repel what is in his heart"? And what can be learned from it? And what is meant by "advances in the image of a devil and retreats in the image of a devil"?

The hadith narrated by Muslim on the authority of Jabir states that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saw a woman and then went to Zaynab and fulfilled his need, then said: "Indeed, a woman approaches in the image of a devil and departs in the image of a devil. So if one of you sees a woman, let him go to his wife, for that will repel what is in his heart."

And his saying: "approaches in the image of a devil and departs in the image of a devil" means in her characteristic of whispering and arousing desire due to the beauty that appears from her, and that she invites to temptation. She is similar to the devil in his call to evil through his whispering and embellishment. The hadith implies guiding a man, if a woman impresses him, to go to his wife, for that will repel what is in his heart and extinguish his desire. There is no harm in a man seeking his wife for intercourse, whether during the day or otherwise, even if she is busy, if a desire overcomes the man and he would be harmed by delaying it.
