Is it permissible to place a piece of cloth on the head to wipe over it during ablution to preserve one's hairstyle, and to pray with it after finishing ablution?

Wiping the head during ablution is an obligation, based on the Almighty's saying: "and wipe over your heads." It is not permissible to place a cloth on the head and wipe over it, nor is that sufficient for ablution, and prayer performed with it is not valid. However, if a woman is wearing a head covering (khimar) and it is difficult to remove it for every ablution, some scholars have permitted wiping over it.
