What is the meaning of the first part of the Hadith: "Whoever has seen me has seen me," and does it refer to seeing his image as he was in this worldly life, or in any form, as long as it is known that he is the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him? And what is the meaning of the second part of the Hadith: "he will see me"?

There are narrations regarding seeing the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a dream, among them: "Whoever sees me in a dream will see me while awake, and Satan cannot impersonate me," and "Whoever sees me has seen the truth." Scholars have differed on the interpretation of "will see me while awake," with several opinions: some say it is a simile, or that the dream will be interpreted in a waking state, or that it was specific to the people of his era, or that one will see him in a mirror, or that one will see him on the Day of Judgment. However, the opinion that one will actually see him and converse with him in this world was strongly denounced by Al-Qurtubi, who considered it ignorance that contradicts reason.
