Do children have rights over their parents, and will the parents be held accountable if they fall short in fulfilling these rights?

The mother's action of favoring her male child with money and property is an injustice and oppression, and it resembles the ethics of the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade such an act and called it oppression. Oppression is falsehood and impermissible. As for her praying against the children of her daughters, that is forbidden, due to the Prophet's prohibition against praying against children and wealth. The mother must treat her children equally, but if she favors some of them due to a need, illness, or large family, there is no harm. The children must honor their mother despite her injustice towards them, and they must fulfill her rights and seek their reward from Allah.
