The basic rule regarding blood seen by a woman is that it is menstrual blood, unless it exceeds fifteen days. If it exceeds that, it becomes istihadah (definition) (irregular bleeding). Whatever coincides with your regular period is menstruation, and anything else is istihadah. If you do not have a regular period, then whatever exhibits the characteristics of menstrual blood is considered menstruation. Missed prayers must be made up. As for making up prayers missed during travel, some scholars hold that they should be performed in full, and this is more cautious, or they may be performed as shortened prayers.
