Is it forbidden to buy books that have pictures of cartoon characters with full features and bodies, and does the ruling differ if the character is depicted with half its face cut off, or without features, or with its stomach cut off, or standing with its back to the viewer, knowing that these books are for entertainment and to develop English language skills?

Some scholars have permitted cartoon images that do not contain anything that violates creed or morals. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymin strengthened the view that they are not to be equated with real images. Accordingly, there is no harm in purchasing books that contain images of cartoon characters, though it is more cautious to avoid them. However, if the images are incomplete in creation in a way that life is impossible with them, then there is no objection to them.
