What is the ruling of the Shari'ah on aborting a zygote (27 days old) without a health justification, and what is the ruling on divorcing a disobedient wife who defied her husband and proceeded with the abortion, and is expiation obligatory upon her for that?

This abortion is an aggression against Allah's creation, a destruction of progeny, and corruption on earth. It is considered a form of infanticide (wa'd). The woman must make a sincere repentance, increase in seeking forgiveness, and perform righteous deeds. As long as the abortion occurred before the first forty days, there is no blood money (ghurrah) due. She should give charity, because good deeds erase bad deeds, and charity extinguishes sin.
