Will punishment in this world be hastened for someone who quarreled with a thief and a drunkard ten years ago, then repented and hopes for forgiveness?

Striking the face is forbidden because it can cause disfigurement or damage to its organs. This prohibition is general for all forms of striking and discipline. Among the causes for hastened punishment in this world are injustice and oppression. As for one who repents from transgressing the rights of people, he must seek their forgiveness; if he is unable to do so, he must seek Allah's forgiveness for them, supplicate for those he wronged, and increase in righteous deeds. We hope that Allah will secure him from hastened punishment.
