Whoever is unable to use water due to illness or its unavailability, must perform tayammum for janabah, menstruation, or other ritual impurities, as Allah Almighty says: "And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the defecation place or you have touched women and find no water, then perform tayammum with clean earth." Tayammum makes prayer obligatory in this situation.
