Legally, is the prescribed share of wealth designated for eligible recipients. Linguistically, it signifies blessing, growth, and purity. It purifies wealth and increases it, and it purifies the giver from sins; as Allah the Almighty says: "Take, [O Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase."
