What is the ruling on my saying to a girl, "I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You" with the intention of not losing her, knowing its religious implication, and that it was not said by the heart or tongue, but rather thought by the mind and written by hand? And what is incumbent upon me to do?

The relationship of love between young men and women is forbidden, and it is a gateway to fitna (temptation, discord) and corruption. The phrase "May Allah forgive me for loving you" is denounced and abhorrent, for it should only be said to Allah Almighty. It is obligatory to repent to Allah by severing the relationship with the girl, regretting what has passed, and resolving not to return to it.
