What is the ruling of Sharia on a husband who conceals certain matters from his wife?

There is no blame on a man for concealing some matters from his wife, as long as it does not lead to the loss of her rights. The general principle is that marital life thrives on mutual consideration. The Sacred Law has permitted lying between spouses if it brings about affection. Um Kalthum bint Uqbah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not consider him a liar: ...a man who speaks to his wife, and a woman who speaks to her husband." This lying refers to expressing affection and promising what is not obligatory, not to deception or wrongfully seizing rights.
