The question

What is the ruling on a wife speaking with her boss at work strictly within the scope of work, and what is the ruling on the triple divorce oath sworn by the husband against her if she speaks with a strange man on the phone in an illicit relationship, knowing that the wife already has a previous divorce?

The answer

The husband has the right to be cautious in caring for and protecting his wife, but he should not swear an oath of divorce due to its sanctity and the hardship it may cause. The majority of scholars consider an oath of divorce to be a conditional divorce, meaning the divorce occurs if the condition is met. However, Sheikh al-Islam considers it merely an oath, and its expiation is like the expiation for breaking an oath if it is violated. As long as the husband's intention is related to answering suspicious calls and speaking with men without a valid need, then the oath is not broken unless that occurs. Speaking with a manager or the like regarding work matters is not of that nature. Caution and vigilance must be exercised to avoid divorce, and a woman's home is better for her. She should not work, even if the work is permissible, unless there is a necessity or a valid need that compels her to work. If the field of work you are in is indeed impermissible, then you must leave it, and your husband is not allowed to approve of you continuing it.
