What is the ruling on postponing an matter, such as a trip or an appointment, on a Tuesday, for fear of encountering evil therein, based on the hadith: “And the disliked was created on Tuesday”? Is this considered Tatayyur (superstitious belief in omens), especially since the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, changed his path from passing between two mountains, one named "Makhz" and the other "Fadih"?

The Hadith (definition), "Disliked things were created on Tuesday," means that Allah created everything that humanity dislikes on this day. However, it does not permit postponing actions or travel out of fear of disliked things, as this is tatyir (superstitious belief in omens), which is forbidden in Islamic law and can even amount to shirk (definition) (polytheism).

The story of the Prophet ﷺ turning away from passing between the mountains of "Muslih" and "Mukhri'" does not indicate the permissibility of tatyir for the following reasons: 1. It is not established with an unbroken chain of narration. 2. It contradicts Hadiths that forbid tirah (superstitious omens) and consider it shirk. 3. Scholars have explained it as follows: It was a dislike for an ugly name and a preference for a good name, not a bad omen. It was a turning away from that which disturbs souls and harms hearts, or because the place was inauspicious. It does not mean that disliked things will inevitably occur on Tuesday, for both beloved and disliked things occur on all days.

The blessed events that occurred on Tuesday (such as the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, and the conquest of Amorium) do not indicate the virtue of this day. Similarly, the creation of disliked things on it does not necessitate abandoning work. A Muslim relies on Allah and does not engage in tatyir.
