"The scholars have differed regarding reading the Qur'an collectively in one voice without listening (to each other). The Hanbalis and Shafi'is deemed it praiseworthy, while the Hanafis and Malikis considered it disliked due to the abandonment of listening and the disruption it causes among them. However, gathering to read the Qur'an and study it is permissible and virtuous, as indicated by a in Muslim, and this is the view of the majority of scholars."
